This Technote describes the procedures to change the login passwords configured in your Netopia 3300/3500 Series Internet Gateway. (This procedure also applies to the Cayman 3220 & 2E router.)
Browse into the Netopia router's web interface at http://192.168.1.254 (if using the default IP setting). If your network has a different IP addressing scheme, modify this accordingly.
PLEASE NOTE: Password changes will take effect immediately, but we do recommend rebooting the router after any configuration changes.

- Select Passwords.
- Under the entry Username select User.

- Remember, the new passwords are case sensitive!

- Establish a telnet session with the router. For additional information on telnet access into the router CLI, please see CQG_100: Getting Started.
- At the login prompt, enter the Admin Username. Hit Enter (or Return).
- Enter the current Admin level password. Enter. (The password isn't visible as you type for security reasons).

- Once accepted, type in save. Enter. This change has now taken effect.
- Type in exit at the >> prompt, enter, and then type in restart to save this and any other new settings.
- You have now changed the password for the Netopia router. Don't forget, the Password is case sensitive.
- The same configuration procedure can be used for user level access into the router. User level cannot make configuration changes or reboot the router, so the administrator must do the actual changes.

These outlines will provide you with the necessary information to reset the passwords for both user (view only) and for admin (read/write permission) level access.
